Atlassian Data Center is the self-managed deployment option for Jira Software, Confluence, Bitbucket, Jira Service Management, Crowd and Bamboo.[2] Data Center products are sold as annual subscriptions, not perpetual licences, and most are priced by user tier; Bamboo is priced by agents.[2] Atlassian has announced that impacted Data Center products will reach end of life on 28 March 2029 at 23:59 PST, after a three-year wind-down that began on 30 March 2026, when new customers could no longer buy Data Center subscriptions.[1] Bitbucket Data Center and Jira Align Data Center are excluded from that end of life.[1] The list prices of Jira, Confluence and Jira Service Management Data Center were last raised on 17 February 2026.[3]
Data Center products are Software Products under the Atlassian Customer Agreement, which permits up to one production instance of each Software Product on an Order unless the Order or Product-Specific Terms say otherwise.[7]
Editions
Atlassian lists six Data Center products: Jira Software, Confluence, Bitbucket, Jira Service Management, Crowd and Bamboo.[2] Some Atlassian apps are bundled: Plans and Automation for Jira with Jira Software Data Center, Team Calendars and Analytics for Confluence with Confluence Data Center, and Assets and ProForma with Jira Service Management Data Center.[2] Server, the perpetual predecessor, is no longer sold and its maintenance renewals are discontinued.[5]
The end of life covers Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, Bamboo and Crowd Data Center, Data Center mobile apps, Atlassian Data Center apps, and third-party Marketplace apps for the affected products.[1]
Metrics
Data Center user-tier products are counted per User and installed under the Production instance rule; Bamboo uses Bamboo Agent. Atlassian’s pricing table for Jira Service Management Data Center labels its tiers “Number of users”, starting at 50.[4] Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence and Crowd Data Center can be licensed for an unlimited number of users, and Bitbucket Data Center for up to 30,000.[5]

Tiers, upgrades and downgrades
Annual pricing uses a fixed tier for the whole user count. Atlassian’s example is 450 Jira users priced at the 500-user tier; adding 75 users places all 525 in the 1,000-user tier rather than pricing the two groups separately (rule).[3] The worked example in that FAQ quotes USD 95,000 for the 1,000-user tier, whereas the published table lists USD 100,000 as the new price for that tier.[3][4]
A tier upgrade replaces the old tier rather than adding to it (500 to 1,000 users gives 1,000 users) and is pro-rated to the licence expiry (rule). Downgrades are possible at any time but earn no refund or credit mid-term; a downgrade and renewal can be combined within 90 days of expiry (rule).[2] The renewal price equals the price of a new licence for the required tier.[2] Self-managed licences cannot be combined to raise the user count of one environment (rule), and Data Center licences can be bought for no more than 12 months at a time (rule).[5]
February 2026 list prices
On 17 February 2026 PT Atlassian changed the list prices of Jira, Confluence and Jira Service Management Data Center for new purchases, renewals and upgrades. Quotes generated before that date were honoured until they expired, while editing such a quote recalculated it at the new prices (rule).[3] Marketplace app prices were not part of the change.[3]

The table reflects “new pricing for existing subscriptions on list pricing plans”; it also gives Japanese yen prices.[4] Academic pricing continues at 50% off the new prices (rule),[4] and the Purchasing and Licensing FAQ prints a 75% Academic discount for Confluence Data Center tiers of 10,000 users and above.[5] Qualifying charitable non-profits can still receive Community Data Center licences at no cost (rule).[3]

An existing customer is any organization that has ever paid for a Data Center subscription before 30 March 2026, including new subsidiaries or domains whose parent organization has paid Data Center seats (rule).[1] Customers can keep renewing for their current users and apps, but renewals cannot extend beyond 28 March 2029 and are prorated to that date; downgrades remain possible until end of life.[1] Until end of life Atlassian continues technical support, security fixes for critical vulnerabilities and connectors from Data Center to Atlassian Cloud.[1]
An expired Data Center subscription leaves the instance read-only: data can be viewed but not added to (rule).[1] Atlassian advises against running a read-only instance connected to the internet after end of life because no further security fixes will be provided.[1] Multi-year extensions beyond 28 March 2029 are available to some customers “by exception only” (rule).[1] Existing Data Center and Cloud Enterprise Licensing Agreements are to be honoured.[1]
Support and regional fees
Since 2 February 2021 PT Priority Support has been included with Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence and Crowd Data Center, with Bitbucket Data Center from the 500-user tier, and with Bamboo Data Center from the 100-agent tier (rule).[2] Customers with a billing address in Turkey pay a 7.5% administration fee on Data Center software and non-hosted Marketplace apps, applied to the discounted price and not to cloud (rule).[5]
Virtualization & partitioning
The Customer Agreement limits each Software Product on an Order to one production instance unless stated otherwise,[7] and Atlassian may audit Software Product use no more than once every twelve months, invoicing any use beyond the Scope of Use (rule).[7] Clustering does not multiply licences: for Marketplace apps, a Data Center product running on multiple servers counts as one environment.[8] Non-production use is covered by free developer licences, available to commercial and academic self-managed licence holders for testing, development and cold standby servers, with maintenance synchronized to the production licence (program, rule).[2] The cited documents publish no hypervisor, core or vCPU counting rules for Data Center.
Cloud / BYOL
Atlassian does not convert Data Center licences into cloud subscriptions. Instead it lists migration incentives: cloud migration trials lasting the remaining Data Center term (up to 12 months and 20,000 users) (program), step-up credits equal to the pro-rated value of unused Data Center subscriptions, and dual licensing that extends Data Center for up to a year at no charge during migration.[5] Customers buying Cloud Enterprise by June 2027 may be eligible for a 10 to 20% first-year discount (program).[1] Atlassian states that the per-user cost of cloud is higher than Data Center.[1]
Bitbucket follows a different path. Existing Bitbucket Data Center customers gain access to a Bitbucket Hybrid License covering both Bitbucket Data Center and Bitbucket Cloud, announced for mid-2026 (program).[6] Existing Bitbucket Data Center licences remain available until 28 March 2029, after which Bitbucket Data Center is sold only through the Hybrid License (rule).[6]
Programs
The Academic discount on Data Center is 50% off list for Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Bitbucket and Confluence below 10,000 users, and 75% for larger Confluence tiers.[5] Nonprofits on Community or Social Impact licences are included in the end of life announcement.[1] Enterprise Community licences are available at 50% off cloud list prices and Cloud Community subscriptions at 75% off.[3] For cloud customers the Cloud Licensing FAQ carries the same migration offers.[9]
