- A Registration Key (22 characters) registers the product in the Customer Licensing Portal and yields an Activation Code (37 characters). Without an Activation Code, products install but update and scanning features are disabled. Activation Codes are tied to the licence and maintenance period, typically one year, and stay valid as long as licence and maintenance are renewed. Renewal notices are sent at least 60 days before maintenance expires.
