- As published 2026-09-30: an Enterprise Server instance needs an uploaded license file, which has an expiration date and controls how many people can use the instance. If the license expires, the instance cannot be reached through a web browser or Git; command-line utilities remain available to back up data. Under metered billing the seat count is the consumed Cloud licenses at generation and the file expires in 12 months.
