- Only active user accounts with a valid Microsoft or Google licence and at least one mailbox are protected. A person with separate Microsoft and Google accounts under different addresses in the same tenant consumes two licences. Group mailboxes, unlicensed shared mailboxes and aliases are protected free; licensed (billed) shared mailboxes consume a licence. Microsoft 365 F1 users are not protected for email or counted by default. Teams-only users are protected and not shown as consuming, but must be licensed. Users sync every 24 hours.
