Netlify credit-based plans are the pricing plans that all new Netlify accounts have used since September 4, 2025. Netlify describes them as simplifying metered and usage-based billing: “By using credits to measure and bill for usage, Netlify users have fewer metrics to track and more flexibility on how to optimize their spending.”[1] A credit is “a Netlify-specific currency” that standardises the usage and cost of metered features.[2] This article lists how credits are allocated by plan, how each meter consumes them and what happens when they run out.

The table is taken from the plan comparison.[1] Catalog: Free plan; Personal plan; Pro plan 3,000 credits; Concurrent build add-on; Live Preview Server add-on.
Features differ by plan beyond credits. Shared environment variables, organization-owned private repositories, password protection, audit logs with 7-day history, basic authentication headers and Slack notifications are Pro features, while smart secret detection starts on Personal.[1] Real user monitoring and web analytics are available for the current or past day on Free, the past 24 hours on Personal and the past 30 days on Pro.[1] Netlify Database allows 3 databases on Free, 5 on Personal and 50 on Pro.[1]
Pro tiers
Pro monthly credits can be changed as many times as the Team Owner likes: upgrades take effect immediately, reset the billing cycle and give a prorated refund from the previous plan, while downgrades take effect at the end of the billing cycle.[1] The base 3,000-credit tier does not support rollover.[1] See the tier price list in Netlify licensing.
Metrics
Credit consumption
| Meter | Rate | Unit |
|---|---|---|
| Production deploys | 15 credits | Each successful production deploy |
| Deploy Previews and branch deploys | 0 credits | Not metered |
| Compute | 10 credits | Per GB-hour |
| AI inference | 180 credits | Per $1 USD of AI model usage |
| Bandwidth | 20 credits | Per GB |
| Web requests | 2 credits | Per 10,000 requests |
| Form submissions | Free | Unlimited |
Rates are from the credit documentation.[3]
Production deploys. A production deploy makes the project live at its primary domain, which may be a custom domain or a netlify.app URL.[2] Each successful one consumes 15 credits; Deploy Previews and branch deploys do not, and failed deploys and rollbacks to a previous production deploy consume no credits.[3] Catalog: Production deploy; Production deploys cost 15 credits; Failed deploys and rollbacks cost no credits.
Compute. Compute is measured in GB-hours, “a combination of memory allocation and execution time”, and covers Functions compute, Preview server compute, Agent Runners compute and Database compute.[3] The default function memory is 1,024 MB; Pro and Enterprise teams can raise it to 4,096 MB, and non-default allocations are calculated as total invocation duration multiplied by configured memory in GB, so a 2.5 GB function running 37 minutes consumes 1.54 GB-hours or 15.4 credits.[4] Edge Functions do not count toward compute; they are measured through web requests.[3] On Enterprise plans compute is Functions and Agents compute plus Database compute.[5] Catalog: Compute GB-hour; Edge Functions are metered as web requests.
AI inference. AI inference measures model usage through Agent Runners and AI Gateway. Model providers’ token costs are converted to USD and “every $1 USD spent on AI model usage” becomes 180 credits.[6] For AI Gateway each successful request is billed on actual tokens of each type (input, output, cache reads and cache writes), and no special AI Gateway credits exist: it draws on the plan’s pool.[6] An Agent Runners run appears on two meters: AI inference for the model and compute for the environment the agent works in.[6] Catalog: AI inference; AI inference converts at 180 credits per USD.
Bandwidth. Web bandwidth is data sent to the internet, including assets, image serving, file downloads, function responses and deprecated Large Media; database bandwidth is metered at the same 20 credits per GB.[3] Catalog: Web bandwidth.
Web requests. A web request is counted when a user or system accesses content hosted on the project, including the main URL, active branch deploys and Deploy Previews: page views, API calls to functions, redirects, edge functions and asset requests.[3] Catalog: Web request.
Forms. Netlify’s web forms service is free and unlimited on all credit-based plans.[3]
Counting and floors
The credit balance
A team’s credit balance is shown as a ledger of monthly plan credits and other grants with expiry dates. Credits are consumed in order of expiry, soonest first, ending with credits that never expire, such as packs and auto recharge remainders.[3][2] Monthly plan credits reset at the start of each billing cycle and do not roll over, except on Pro plans of 5,000 credits or more, where unused credits carry forward and expire at the end of the cycle they roll into.[1] Promotional or hackathon credits typically carry their own expiry date.[1] Catalog: Credits are consumed in order of expiry; Rollover credits last one extra month.
Any change to Pro monthly credits, upgrade or downgrade, removes all unused monthly credits including rollover credits when it takes effect, whereas credits from packs or auto recharge are not affected.[2] Catalog: Changing Pro credit tier removes unused monthly credits.
Shared across projects
A team can have up to 500 projects on Free, Personal or Pro, and “all your projects share the same monthly credit allotment”.[2] Credits are tracked at the team level, including function usage.[2]
Buying more credits
Personal and Pro teams have two ways to add credits.[3]
- Credit packs. Only Team Owners on credit-based Personal or Pro plans can buy one-time packs: 500 credits for $5 on Personal and 1,500 for $10 on Pro. Pack credits do not expire.[7]
- Auto recharge. When the balance runs out the team’s payment method is charged for the same increments. It is off by default, only a Team Owner can enable it, it applies to all projects of the team and it cannot be enabled per project. Recharged credits that go unused do not expire.[3][8]
Catalog: Credit packs; Auto recharge is off by default and Owner-controlled; Auto recharge credits do not expire.
When credits run out
If a Personal or Pro team has used its credit balance without recharge, all web projects are paused, visitors see a Site not available page, and projects receive no web requests or form submissions and cannot trigger new deploys.[8] If one project exceeds its limits, all projects on the account are paused.[2] The Free plan “is always free, with hard monthly limits that cannot be exceeded or incur any costs”.[9] Netlify sends in-app notifications and emails at 50%, 75%, 90% and 100% of usage by default,[2] although the pricing page FAQ lists 50%, 75% and 100%.[9] Catalog: Projects pause when credits run out; Free plan has a hard limit; Usage notices at 50, 75, 90 and 100 percent.
Netlify says a customer can keep spend predictable by choosing Free, by keeping auto recharge off, by disabling a project that consumes many credits, or by setting a limit on AI features.[2] There is no separate spend cap that stops charges once auto recharge is enabled.
Virtualization and partitioning
Not applicable. The team is the commercial unit: credits, concurrent builds and Live Preview Server allowances are team-level, and a team’s projects share them.[2][1]
Cloud and BYOL
No bring-your-own-licence rights apply. AI model usage is metered at provider cost converted to credits; the AI pricing page does not mention a bring-your-own-key option.[6]
Programs
- AI Credit Usage Limit. A team can set a limit on AI inference from Agent Runners; when reached, the team cannot start agent runs and active runs stop. On standard plans AI Gateway usage is not affected; on Enterprise the limit counts both, but only agent runs are paused.[2][6] Catalog: AI Credit Usage Limit; AI Credit Usage Limit stops agent runs.
- Concurrent builds. Build minutes are not a metric on credit plans, but an extra concurrent build is an add-on at $40 per month on Personal and Pro.[2] Catalog: Extra concurrent builds cost $40 per month.
- Payment. Netlify accepts credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay; Enterprise customers may also pay by ACH or wire transfer, and a year cannot be paid in advance except on Enterprise.[10] Payments are scheduled at the start of each monthly billing cycle.[10]
Audits and compliance
Usage is verified by Netlify’s metering, which Team Owners and Developers can see on the team dashboard; only Team Owners can change billing settings such as auto recharge.[2] The documentation describes no audit procedure for credit plans. Pausing is the enforcement mechanism for credit exhaustion.[3]
