The 3DEXPERIENCE platform is the Dassault Systèmes (3DS) cloud environment for its CATIA, ENOVIA, DELMIA, SIMULIA and SOLIDWORKS business applications. 3DS licenses it as Online Services under an Offering Specific Terms document (OST) for each release. The OST for 3DEXPERIENCE R2026x Online Services is dated November 2025 and prevails over the other terms of the agreement “only with respect to the Online Services to which this OST applies”.[1] Ordering an offering under it grants “the right to access an assigned production environment in which Customer is able to manage one or more platforms (“Platform”)”.[1]
For licence management the Platform is the unit to track. Access to it depends on holding a minimum set of user offerings. Disk space, specialization rights and staging rights are attached to one Platform and cannot be moved to another.[1]
Editions
3DS sells the platform as roles and services with product numbers, not as editions. Platform types are distinguished by the offerings needed to reach them.[1]
| Platform type | Access requirement | Rule |
|---|---|---|
| Cloud Platform (all Platforms) | At least one Named User Based offering from Table 01, for example 3DSwymer (6NP-IFW-OC) or Collaborative Industry Innovator (6NP-CSV-OC) | 3DEXPERIENCE platform access requires Named User minimums (1 for cloud; 100 plus VPE for private cloud) |
| Private cloud Platform | One Virtual Private Environment (6MP-XVP-OP) under System License and at least 100 Named User Based offerings from Table 02 | 3DEXPERIENCE platform access requires Named User minimums (1 for cloud; 100 plus VPE for private cloud) |
| GxP cloud Platform | One GxP Enabler (6MP-GPE-GC) under System License | GxP cloud Platform requires a GxP Enabler System License |
| GxP private cloud Platform | One GxP Enabler (6MP-GPE-GP) and at least 100 Named User Based offerings from Table 03 | GxP cloud Platform requires a GxP Enabler System License |
| Sovereign cloud Platform | One Sovereign Environment (France 6MP-RGF-OP, USA 6MP-RGU-OP or UK 6MP-RGK-OP), one Virtual Private Environment and at least 100 Named User Based offerings from Table 02 | Sovereign cloud Platform requires a Sovereign Environment, a VPE and 100 Named Users |

Each requirement is worded as a condition the customer must stay current on, for example: “To be able to have access to a Platform, Customers must be current with the payment related to the rights to use a minimum of one (1) 3DS Offering ordered under the Named User Based licensing scheme”.[1] A GxP Enabler also “provides access to (i) one (1) Staging Validation (6MP-SGN-GC) and (ii) fifty (50) Staging User (6MP-SGU-GC)”, to be used only on that Staging Validation.[1]
Metrics
Section 2.1 lists six licensing schemes for the Online Services: Business Experience - Usage Based, Casual Named User Based, Credit Based, Named User Based, System License and Token Based. The scheme for each offering is set in the Product Portfolio and the Transaction Document.[1] The definitions are the same as for the Licensed Programs and are mapped in Dassault Systèmes licensing. Two points matter most on the platform:
- A Named User is “a User identified with a unique username and password to use the 3DS Offering from a single machine at any given time”. Credentials may not be shared, and Named Users may be replaced only “to reflect permanent personnel change(s)”.[1]
- Business Experience - Usage Based is specific to the Online Services. It grants “a determined maximum number of active Business Experience Instances”. An instance is defined by its context and its set of members. Archived instances stay readable “but cannot be modified”, and an instance “is specific to a given 3DS Offering and cannot be used for another Business Experience - Usage Based 3DS Offering” (rule Business Experience Instances: active maximum; archived instances read-only; not reusable across offerings).[1]
Archiving a Business Experience Instance is the way to free an active slot while keeping its data readable.
Counting / floors
Online disk space
Disk space comes with the user offerings in Table 05 of the OST. Examples: 25 GB for Collaborative Business & Industry Innovator, 20 GB for Collaborative Industry Innovator, 5 GB for 3DSwymer, 300 GB for the L variant of Collaborative Business & Industry Innovator and 1,000 GB for the XL variant.[1] The space is pooled: “For one (1) Platform, such disk space is shared among all the authorized Users”. It is also tied to its Platform: “Such online disk space belonging to one (1) Platform cannot be transferred to another Platform.” (rule Online disk space is pooled per Platform and cannot move between Platforms)[1]
More space is bought as Platform Extended Storage, at 25 GB per unit. To use any of the space, the customer must stay current on Named User Based offerings “allowing to manage the Customer Data stored in such online disk space”.[1] Reducing named users therefore also reduces the pooled storage.
Platform specialization
Changing the data model of a Platform is licensed in Specialization Sets. One set allows up to ten out-of-the-box types to be specialized, ten subtypes, twenty extensions, ten attribute groups and forty specialized attributes per object.[1] The first set needs at least one Enterprise IP Specialization Manager and, at all times, enough Enterprise IP Specialization Usage offerings. Their number equals the Named User Based offerings from Table 01 on the Platform, and for Casual Named Users the count of Casual Collaborative Business & Industry Innovator offerings.[1] The specialization count therefore follows the user count. Each further set needs an Enterprise IP Specialization Capacity offering, and “At any given time, Customer cannot have, for a given Platform, more than four (4) Enterprise IP Specialization Capacity” (rule Platform specialization: Specialization Usage must match Named Users; at most four Specialization Capacity).[1]
Staging
For each Staging Pre-Production, Staging Validation or Staging Pre-Release service, “Customer is authorized to have one (1) Platform in a staging environment to access GA Levels.” Users who hold an offering listed in Table 09, such as Collaborative Business & Industry Innovator or Collaborative Industry Innovator, need a Staging User service to reach that staging Platform. Staging services “belonging to one (1) Platform cannot be transferred to another Platform” (rule Staging Platforms: one per staging service, Staging User per listed role, not transferable).[1]
Geography
Online Services may be used “only in the country for which the 3DS Offerings are ordered”. Users whose usual workplace is in that country may use them abroad on business trips of up to thirty consecutive days. 3DS may authorize Remote Access case by case (rule Use limited to the ordered country; business trips up to 30 consecutive days).[1]
Programs
The Online Services use their own pricing structures, defined in section 6.2 of the OST.[1]
| Structure | What it buys | Renewal and termination |
|---|---|---|
| PSC/ASC | PSC is a one-time, non-refundable charge for an access right; ASC is the annual charge for use and support | Ending ASC suspends the right to use; reinstatement with back ASC |
| TSC/ASC | TSC is a one-time charge for an access right of “x” years (TSC3 = three years) | TSC does not renew; ending ASC ends TSC |
| YSC | One year of use and Support Services | Renewed for a year if use continues after the anniversary |
| QSC | Three months of use and Support Services | Renewed for three months if use continues after the anniversary |
Source: Online Services OST section 6.2.[1]
Under PSC/ASC, “Termination of ASC of a 3DS Offering ordered under a PSC/ASC pricing structure shall result in suspension of the right to use the 3DS Offering.” The offering can be reinstated, if it is still generally available, by paying one year of ASC plus the ASC that would have been due since termination (rule PSC/ASC: ending ASC suspends use; reinstatement needs back ASC; on-premises switch is perpetual).[1] Before the PSC ends, the customer may ask in writing to switch to the functionally equivalent on-premises Release, if 3DS offers that option generally, and pay reasonable fees. “Any such use is perpetual”. Under TSC the same switch lasts only for the rest of the TSC term.[1]
YSC and QSC renew by use. The customer “is deemed to have accepted to renew” if it keeps using the offering after the anniversary date. Use rights and Support Services cannot be ended separately from the access rights.[1] Renewal prices for ASC, YSC and QSC apply the percentage change in list price between periods to the price the customer paid for the prior period.[1] For orders through Distributors, “Distributors are free to set their own applicable Customer price and price increase”.[1]
Licence keys for on-premises programs
The platform also hosts the Online Licensing Service (6MP-OML), which manages licence keys for Licensed Programs. It “can only be used for license key management of a given Licensed Program if Customer is current with the payment of the Support Services related to such Licensed Program” (rule Online Licensing Service usable only while Support Services are current).[1] If support lapses, the customer needs another way to manage keys for that program. Support termination and reinstatement are covered in Dassault Systèmes support services and reinstatement.
Compliance
On request, the customer must give 3DS a signed document listing the number of Named Users and Extended Enterprise Named Users, the type of use, and the locations and types of systems. If 3DS supplies a usage utility, the customer must hand over “the unedited and unmodified output file(s)” with a signed declaration that they represent actual usage.[1] The general audit clause is in the CLOSA and is covered in Dassault Systèmes software compliance and audits.[2]
Out of scope
- Product Portfolio values (which scheme and how many tokens or credits each role uses), which the OST refers to but does not list.[1]
- Brand-specific credit packs and compute units in the OST (for example CATIA SCANeR credit packs and biosphere material compute units).
- Education platforms (3DEXPERIENCE Platform for Education sizes) and Training Experience offerings.
- List prices, which 3DS does not publish in the OST.
