- History and License, OpenSSL: the hashlib, posix and ssl modules use OpenSSL if the operating system provides it, and the Windows and macOS installers may include a copy of the OpenSSL libraries. For OpenSSL 3.0 and later the Apache License 2.0 applies, whose redistribution conditions (licence copy, notices, NOTICE file) attach to installers that carry OpenSSL.
