- Project announcements of 2026-05-01 and 2026-05-05: ports and forks of the GPL code are welcome, but use of the "Notepad++" name (trademark) requires authorization and is not granted to external projects; a third-party macOS site using the name without permission was treated as trademark infringement. The GPL itself grants no trademark rights beyond the code (section 7(e) lets licensors decline them).
