- SAS 9.4 renewal instructions: "SAS software is licensed on a periodic basis. In order to run your licensed software, you must apply the SAS installation data file (SID file) to renew your software."
- Counting rules
- Each licensed product carries an expiration date in the setinit (SAS 9) or JSON web token license file (SAS Viya). After the expiration date a grace period and then a warning period apply (0 and 15 days for SAS Viya 3.5 since June 2024); after the warning period SAS does not run. PROC SETINIT, cas listabout and the sas-viya licenses CLI report the dates.
