- Computer name; node name; hostname in SID file
- Definition
- SAS Note 41121: a subcapacity licence is tied to "a specific machine name or computer name"; SAS must be installed "on a physical machine or virtual machine with the designated computer name and the designated number of cores or fewer cores."
- Counting rules
- The computer name (not the domain) is written into the SID file; on SAS 9.3 and later a mismatched node name stops SAS. On UNIX, installation fails if the hostname does not match the SID file (SAS Note 41510). Changing the machine name or core count requires a new SID file from SAS; the SID file cannot be edited.
