- Main principles of badge management: "A badge is a code that is linked with the license management. It corresponds to a kind of resource that has a stock which is consumed by users when using the functions of Sage X3."
- Counting rules
- Quantities of each badge code (for example ERPFULL, ERPFIN, ERPDIS, ERPMAN, ERPTRAN, ERPDEV in version 12) are set in the signed license file. Roles are linked to badges; a user who selects a role consumes 1 of every badge linked to that role. With a concurrent license the badge is consumed at connection; with a named license it is consumed when the role is assigned to the user. A badge not listed in the license file has quantity 0.

- Badge quantities are fixed in the license file; partners can add vertical badges with their own policy and license files.
