- License Program Guide: commercial (non-MSP) customers may opt to be licensed per heartbeat, giving "a good faith estimate of the number of heartbeats (humans)". The Active Directory documentation defines the basis as the total number of employees, including full-time, part-time and contract workers.
- Counting rules
- The whole organisation must be licensed, not a subset. Directory accounts are not metered for enforcement and the Used column shows N/A. Commvault may use public information on employee counts to validate the figure. Fair use: total AD accounts up to five times the heartbeat licences purchased.
