- Definition
- Licensing Guide 3.1: Ansys HPC licences are "physics-neutral licenses" that "can be used to run a simulation across multiple cores and/or GPUs". Most applications allow four CPU cores without any HPC licence, and HPC licences add cores, GPU cards or GCUs.
- Counting rules
- Count cores (or GPUs/GCUs) used by a solve minus those included with the solver (usually 4). Example: CFD Enterprise on twelve cores consumes eight Ansys HPC licences. Hyperthread cores count as cores. GPU partitions are each charged as a GPU. HPC licences do not participate in borrowing. In Elastic Licensing the rate is int(7.3*n^0.57) AEC/hr, n = extra cores or GCUs.
- Floors / minimums
- Four cores included with most solver licences (Mechanical APDL: 4; LS-DYNA and Speos differ).
- Applies to products
- Most Ansys solvers (Fluent, CFX, Mechanical APDL, HFSS, Maxwell and others)
