Fivetran plans, contracts and billing

This article is about Fivetran's Free, Standard, Enterprise and Business Critical plans and the annual, pay-as-you-go, Enterprise License Agreement and marketplace purchasing routes. How MAR is counted is covered in the Monthly Active Rows article.

On This Page

Fivetran plans, contracts and billing describe how a customer chooses a feature tier and a payment route. Fivetran lists four plans: Free, Standard, Enterprise and Business Critical.[1] The same consumption metrics apply to all of them, but the plan sets the per-MAR price curve and the available features.

The four plans

Feature Free Standard Enterprise Business Critical
Usage limit 500,000 connection MAR, 3,500 activation MAR, 5,000 model runs None None None
Syncs 15 minutes at best 15 minutes 1 minute 1 minute
Users Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited
Enterprise database connectors (Oracle, SAP, Db2, High-Volume Agent) No No Yes Yes
Hybrid Deployment No No Yes Yes
Custom roles, SCIM, VPN tunnels (annual) No No Yes Yes
Customer-managed keys, private networking, PCI DSS Level 1 No No No Yes
HVR No No No Yes

The feature rows are drawn from the plan summaries and plan limitations.[1][3] The Marketplace Terms also list HVR and Hybrid Deployment under Business Critical, and Hybrid Deployment under Enterprise.[5] The list of enterprise database connectors in the billing documentation names Oracle, Oracle EBS, Oracle RAC, Oracle RDS, SAP ERP on HANA, SAP OData, and Db2 for z/OS and for LUW in beta, plus High-Volume Agent connectors for Oracle and SQL Server.[1]

Standard customers using enterprise database connectors must move to Enterprise at account renewal.[1] Fivetran’s own FAQ suggests Standard for organisations with database sources, Enterprise for high-volume replication and finer permissions, and Business Critical for the strictest data-protection requirements.[3]

The Starter plan (a deprecated tier that supported up to 10 users and had no API access) and the Private Deployment plan were removed on 1 March 2025. Customers on those plans must transition when their annual contract renews.[7][8]

Annual contract: Capacity Purchase Plan

The Service Consumption Table defines a Capacity Purchase Plan as “a subscription-based plan which requires an annual upfront purchase of Contracted Spend in bulk.”[2] The documentation says the annual minimum is USD 12,000 and that standard annual contracts make Standard, Enterprise and Business Critical available by default.[1]

Discount bands

The Committed Use Discount rises with annual list price. It starts at 5%, and the published bands are:

Plan Annual list price band Discount What you pay
Standard USD 0 to 37,900 5% USD 12,000 to 36,000
Standard USD 37,900 to 145,340 5% to 22.6% USD 36,000 to 112,500
Standard Above USD 145,340 22.6% and up USD 112,500 and up
Enterprise USD 0 to 50,526 5% USD 12,000 to 48,000
Enterprise USD 50,526 to 193,787 5% to 22.6% USD 48,000 to 150,000
Enterprise Above USD 193,787 22.6% and up USD 150,000 and up
Business Critical USD 0 to 80,842 5% USD 12,000 to 76,800
Business Critical USD 80,842 to 310,060 5% to 36.42% USD 76,800 to 197,138
Business Critical Above USD 310,060 36.42% and up USD 197,138 and up

The bands come from the billing documentation.[1] The pricing page says customers can save up to 22% with an annual contract.[3] The discount that applies to a purchase is shown on the purchasing document.[1]

Consumption and arrears

Monthly Spend, the dollars consumed in a month, draws down Contracted Spend. When the balance is depleted the customer is in Arrears, and may continue using the products if it is in compliance with the agreement. For the first two billing periods in Arrears the Order Form rates apply; after that any extra discount ends, and after the Order Form term or an enterprise agreement ends, the then-current list rates apply until new Contracted Spend is purchased. Fivetran also reserves the right to charge a monthly account maintenance fee for an active account that consumes nothing after expiry.[2]

The MSA adds that if usage exceeds the capacity on an Order Form, Fivetran invoices the extra in arrears, and that all fees are non-cancelable and non-refundable.[4]

Rollover

Unused Contracted Spend can roll over at 100% into a new qualifying Capacity Purchase. Two conditions apply: the new Order Form’s annualized Contracted Spend, excluding rolled-over amounts, must be at least the total annualized spend of the expiring Order Forms, and the new Order Form must be signed in the same month the old ones expire.[2] Without a rollover, the previous contract’s balance is billed when the plan renews during the month, and Fivetran does not prorate between renewals.[1]

Renewal and term

Each non-monthly Order Form renews automatically for successive one-year periods on its current terms unless a party gives notice of non-renewal at least 60 days before the term ends. If a customer keeps using a product after the term, it is billed in arrears.[4] Invoices are due in 30 days, unpaid amounts bear a finance charge of 1.5% a month or the legal maximum if lower, and Fivetran may charge a 3% surcharge on credit card payments.[4] Fivetran may suspend access when fees are 30 days or more overdue and not in good-faith dispute.[4]

Multiple accounts

A customer may hold several Accounts. Contracted Spend on a single Capacity Purchase Plan can be applied to any of them, but price curves are applied connection by connection.[2] An Affiliate that buys separately must sign its own Order Form.[4]

Pay-as-you-go

The Service Consumption Table defines a Monthly Purchase as a plan “where Customer is billed monthly, in arrears for the costs incurred during the prior Billing Period.”[2] The documentation says PAYG is not subscription-based, can be cancelled any time, has no MAR consumption minimum and bills at list price, but with a $5 minimum charge for each connection with usage between 1 MAR and 1 million MAR. The Free plan is available only on monthly PAYG.[1] Payment can be made by card in the dashboard billing tab or through marketplaces.

Switching routes and plans

Switching from PAYG to annual bills the annual rate for the whole month; switching from annual to PAYG bills the PAYG rate for the whole month, pulls usage from any remaining balance and expires the balance that would have been left. Plan changes in the dashboard are billed at the cheapest plan rate for the whole month, but plan conversions are not available to sales-assisted accounts or accounts paying through a marketplace.[1] A downgrade requires reducing features the lower plan lacks, and the documentation gives more than ten users on an account as an example.[1]

Enterprise License Agreements

The pricing page says Fivetran offers Enterprise License Agreements with a fixed price per year and no limits on consumption, for customers who intend to move their entire integration workload onto Fivetran or who prioritise predictability. Fivetran prices the first group from a table of target prices by company size, adjusted within a band, and the second at a premium to the estimated consumption cost; consumption pricing remains available.[3] Renewals of ELAs for the predictability group are priced the same way.[3]

Marketplace purchases

Fivetran products may be bought through the Snowflake, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services marketplaces. Under the Marketplace Terms, providers act only as billing and collection agents, no separate Order Form may be needed, overages may be billed through the marketplace or separately by Fivetran, and use remains subject to the Service Consumption Table.[5] Promotional discounts are not guaranteed for future transactions.[5] For PAYG listings, the marketplace bills monthly in arrears, the subscription appears in Fivetran within 24 hours, and a trial cannot be started on AWS Marketplace.[6]

Discount programs and service levels

The pricing page lists further discounts for eligible Powered by Fivetran customers, non-profits and customers with sharded databases, subject to verification, and a Startup Program giving USD 50K of free Fivetran to Y Combinator companies.[3] Service credits under the SLA depend on plan: the Core Services guarantee applies to Standard, Enterprise and Business Critical, while the data delivery guarantee applies to Enterprise and Business Critical only.[10]

Free plan

The Free plan permits a single account and ends after a second Overage Month within twelve months; Fivetran may modify it at any time without prior notice.[9]

Out of scope

Negotiated Order Form terms, partner resale agreements (which bind only the customer and the partner) and the pricing of professional services are not public and are not covered.
