ZEISS
ZEISS is a technology group whose software includes the ZEN microscopy suite, the arivis image-analysis products and ZEISS Quality Software for industrial metrology. ZEN runs as the free, unlicensed ZEN lite edition when no paid licence is present, and academic institutions can subscribe to floating multi-seat Institutional Licenses.

ZEN lite is the free, unlicensed edition of ZEN; after installation the ZEISS Microscopy Installer checks for a ZEN licence and defaults to ZEN lite if no paid licence is available.[1]
Downloading ZEN or ZEN lite requires registering a ZEISS ID account and using the ZEISS Microscopy Installer.[2]
ZEISS Institutional Licenses are a subscription for academic institutions giving access to ZEN desk, arivis Pro and arivis Cloud with all toolkits and modules included.[3]
Institutional Licenses use multi-seat floating licences for local and remote use; institutions choose how many concurrent users (seats) to license per software package, and upgrades are included at no additional cost.[4]
New pre-production ZEN features can be tested through the ZEN Early Access Program with a dedicated trial licence.[5]
