Waves Audio makes audio processing plugins and related software for music production, mixing and live sound. Its software is licensed per device under perpetual, subscription, trial, NFR and beta licence types, tied to a Waves account.

Waves offers Perpetual, Subscription, Trial, NFR and Beta licence types, each with different rights and conditions; the software is licensed, not sold.[1]
Unless a supplement says otherwise, each licence permits use on one Device at a time, granted per Device rather than per user, company or site; each virtual machine, cloud instance or container counts as a separate Device.[2]
A Perpetual Licence has an indefinite term but still requires an account and licence verification; if the account is deleted, perpetual software may revert to demo mode when it can no longer be verified.[3]
Subscription Licences cover a monthly or annual term and may renew automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off; fees already paid are non-refundable except as required by law.[4]
Subscription Licences include the Waves Update Plan (WUP) during each paid term; Perpetual Licences include WUP for the first 12 months.[5]
NFR (Not-for-Resale) licences may be used only for demonstration and evaluation, not commercial production.[6]
