Vector Informatik

Vector Informatik, based in Stuttgart, makes software tools, embedded software and hardware for developing and testing software-defined systems in automotive and other industries, including CANoe and DaVinci. Its tools are activated through the Vector License Client as local device or named-user licences, or as network licences served from a licence server.

Licensing at a Glance

  • Per device
  • Named user
  • Floating / network
  • Enterprise agreement

  1. Local licences are either Device Licences, bound to a licence carrier such as a computer, a Keyman dongle or a Vector network interface, or Named User Licences, bound to a user or carrier (including a virtual machine).[1]

  2. Network licences reside on an on-premises licence server managed by an administrator, and can be Named User, CI Agent Count or CI Team licences, the latter two bound to a scope such as a team or project rather than a user; network licences can be borrowed.[2]

  3. Under an ELA (Enterprise License Agreement/Company Licence) the customer administrator creates activation keys in the Vector Portal, while under a EULA (user licence) Vector provides the activation key.[3]

  4. CANoe is packaged in editions (Desktop, Test Bench and Server), feature-scoped variants and individually combinable options for bus systems and protocols.[4]

  5. The CANoe Test Bench Edition may run on Windows Server only as a single-user computer; server operation with multiple users is not possible.[5]

  6. Installers in the download centre state the minimum licence version needed, for example DaVinci Configurator Classic 6.4 requires a licence of version 6.4 or higher.[6]
