Valgrind
Valgrind is an instrumentation framework for building dynamic analysis tools, including memory error detectors, thread error detectors and profilers, for Linux and other Unix-like platforms. It is free software released under the GNU GPL.
Licensing at a Glance
- Open source
Valgrind is described as a GPL'd system for debugging and profiling Linux programs.[1]
Valgrind states it is free both in the sense that users may download, read, modify and pass on the source within the limits of the GNU GPL, and in that no charge is made for it.[2]
The Valgrind user manual reproduces the GNU General Public License version 3 (29 June 2007) as its licence text.[3]
The Valgrind distribution includes seven production-quality tools: a memory error detector, two thread error detectors, a cache and branch-prediction profiler, a call-graph generating profiler and two heap profilers.[4]
