Unity Technologies

Unity Technologies makes the Unity real-time 3D engine and editor along with DevOps, monetization and advertising services. The editor is licensed per seat through Personal, Pro, Enterprise and Industry plans whose eligibility depends on the customer's annual revenue and funding.

Licensing at a Glance

  • Subscription
  • Named user
  • Free tier
  1. Unity Personal is free and available to customers with up to $200,000 in revenue and funding; Unity Pro is priced at $2,310 per seat per year prepaid or $210 per seat per month in 2026, and Enterprise is custom-priced.[1]

  2. Unity Pro is required for customers with more than $200,000 in total annual revenue and funding, and Unity Enterprise for customers with $25 million or more.[2]

  3. Tier eligibility is measured on the trailing twelve months each date the software is used; once Total Finances exceed a tier's Financial Threshold the customer must upgrade, and a customer over $200,000 may not use Unity Personal at all, even for internal projects or prototyping.[3]

  4. Customers may not use Unity Software tiers with different Financial Thresholds at the same time, or combine projects developed with one tier with projects developed simultaneously with another tier.[4]

  5. The Financial Threshold for Industry customers is $1,000,000, and the Unity Student Plan threshold is also $1,000,000, above which only Unity Pro or Enterprise editor versions may be used.[5]

  6. Unity cancelled the Runtime Fee for games as of September 12, 2024.[6]
