SystemTools Software

SystemTools Software is a Texas-based publisher of Windows and Active Directory administration tools, chiefly Hyena, and distributes the free DumpSec security reporting utility. Hyena is sold as a perpetual licence for each administrator who uses it.

Licensing at a Glance

  • Perpetual licence
  • Named user
  • Freeware

  1. Hyena is licensed only to the administrators who actually use it, regardless of the number of end users, domains or servers managed; each administrator needs a separate licence and concurrent-use licensing is not permitted.[1]

  2. Hyena Enterprise Edition is priced per licence on a volume scale, from USD 329 each for 1-2 licences down to USD 150 each for 100 or more; a 30-day fully functional trial is available, after which continued use requires registration.[2]

  3. All Hyena licences are perpetual; since 1 January 2021 annual maintenance renewals are no longer sold, and each licence instead includes a built-in free update period from the date of purchase or upgrade.[3]

  4. Upgrades to a new Hyena version are priced at 50% of the current new licence cost and include two years of free upgrades.[4]

  5. SystemTools distributes SomarSoft's DumpSec, DumpReg and related utilities, under distribution rights granted by SomarSoft, as free utilities.[5]
