Step Ahead GmbH of Munich develops the stepsERP (STEPS Business Solution) ERP and CRM software for mid-sized retail, service and IT companies, offered on-premise or hosted. Software is licensed per module by client, named user, server, domain or company, as a purchased or rented licence.

  1. Step Ahead software is licensed as server software, client software and separately licensed modules; each module is licensed by number of clients, named users, per server, per domain or per company.[1]

  2. A user access licence must be acquired for all direct and indirect access to the system; for user-licensed modules each individual accessing the module needs a named licence, including access through other applications or services.[2]

  3. Whether a licence is an unlimited-term purchase licence or a time-limited rental licence is set by the offer; licences are non-exclusive and non-transferable.[3]

  4. Licences are granted per company; transfer within a group is allowed only if agreed in the offer and only to companies in which the customer directly holds more than 50 percent.[4]

  5. Client software may be installed on any number of the customer's devices, but only users holding a user licence may use it.[5]
