Splasm Software

Splasm Software makes macOS applications, including the CheckBook and CheckBook Pro personal finance managers and Audiobook Builder. It sells major-version licences, not subscriptions, through its own store and the Mac App Store.

Licensing at a Glance

  • Perpetual licence

  1. CheckBook Pro is sold as a major version licence, not a yearly subscription, so updates before the next major version (4) are free.[1]

  2. A Splasm Store CheckBook Pro licence can be shared between six members of the same household; the Mac App Store version includes Family Sharing.[2]

  3. The CheckBook 3 licence agreement licenses a private individual and household (not a commercial entity) to use the software on up to six computers owned and operated by household members.[3]

  4. The licence is nontransferable; renting, lending, selling, transferring or sublicensing the software, and reverse engineering it, are prohibited.[4]
