Revenera

Revenera, a Flexera business, provides software monetization, licensing and installation tools for software producers, including the InstallShield Windows installer and MSIX authoring tool. InstallShield is sold as multi-year subscriptions on node-locked or concurrent licences.

  1. InstallShield Professional and InstallShield Premier are listed as 3-year subscriptions on node-locked licences, while Premier with a Local License Server or Cloud License Server is a 3-year concurrent-licence subscription with custom pricing.[1]

  2. Each Local License Server or Cloud License Server licence includes 99 Standalone Build (SAB) licences; 2-week free trials are offered for the Professional and Premier editions.[2]

  3. A node-locked InstallShield licence is limited to a single user on a single computer or virtual image, may not be installed on a shared computer, and copying the virtual image to use on another machine is prohibited.[3]

  4. For concurrent licences, machines must be able to reach a licence server, and for certification the number of concurrent users is the highest number that accessed InstallShield at any single point during the previous year.[4]

  5. Licence transfers resulting from employee turnover or reassignment are allowed, but not more frequently than annually.[5]

  6. InstallShield dates from 1987; in 2020 Flexera branded its supplier division (software monetization, composition analysis and installation) as Revenera, which continues to be part of Flexera.[6]
