PKWARE

PKWARE makes the PK Protect data discovery and protection platform, PK Encrypt, and the PKZIP and SecureZIP compression and encryption products for desktops, servers and mainframes. Desktop products are licensed perpetually per computer under the PKWARE Master License Agreement, and mainframe and IBM i products require a licence key from PKWARE.

  1. The desktop Master License Agreement grants a perpetual, non-exclusive, generally non-transferable licence to install and use the software for internal business purposes on the Authorized Number of computers set out in the order.[1]

  2. Under the desktop agreement, a licence is required for each guest operating system in a virtual machine, for each user who can access the software via application virtualization, and, for remote access technologies, at least as many licences as remote access seats.[2]

  3. PKWARE may audit the licensee's records and systems on at least 30 days' prior written notice, no more than once in any 12-month period.[3]

  4. PKWARE publishes separate terms for PKZIP and SecureZIP on Windows Desktop and macOS, for z/OS, IBM i, UNIX, Linux and Windows Server, for PK Protect and PK Encrypt, and for hosted and professional services.[4]

  5. PKZIP for IBM i and IBM z/OS requires a licence key for use, issued by PKWARE for qualified use cases; key requests for IBM i ask for the machine serial number, model, P-grouping and number of active processors.[5]

  6. The PKWARE online store sells PKZIP and SecureZIP desktop and server products priced per copy.[6]
