.NET Foundation
The .NET Foundation is an independent non-profit that supports the open-source ecosystem around the .NET platform and holds or licenses the code of its member projects, including the .NET runtime. Member projects use the MIT licence, or Apache 2.0.

Projects joining the foundation move to the MIT licence or continue to use Apache.[2]
Joining projects either assign copyright to the .NET Foundation (assignment model) or keep copyright and grant the foundation a broad licence to the code (contribution model), and top contributors sign a Contribution License Agreement.[3]
The .NET runtime repository is licensed under the MIT License, with copyright held by the .NET Foundation and Contributors.[4]
