Maxon

Maxon develops 3D, motion-design and visual-effects software including Cinema 4D, Redshift, ZBrush and Red Giant, sold mainly as subscriptions for individuals, teams and education. Its EULA defines perpetual, subscription, Teams Named User and Teams Floating licence models.

  1. A Subscription License is a time-limited, non-transferable, personalised (Named User) right to install the software on any number of devices but use it on only one device at a time; it renews automatically for the same term unless terminated before the end of the current term.[1]

  2. A Perpetual License grants a non-transferable Named User right with no time limit; unless agreed in writing it does not include upgrades, maintenance or support. The EULA does not apply to programs released on or before 3 September 2019 that were bought with a perpetual licence under another agreement.[2]

  3. Teams Named User and Teams Floating licences are available only as subscriptions; a customer subscribing to five or more licences of any Maxon product must take all of them as Teams licences.[3]

  4. Teams Floating licences require a license server or the Teams Account Dashboard to enforce the licensed number of concurrent uses; users must belong to the same legal entity (affiliates need separate licences) and use is limited to four contiguous time zones.[4]

  5. Educational licences for students and teachers are time-limited, free of charge, non-transferable Named User licences restricted to individuals enrolled at or teaching for an accredited institution.[5]

  6. Maxon sells plans for Individuals, Teams, Educational and Mobile users; the Teams plan adds single sign-on, a dedicated licence dashboard and premium support.[6]
