MathWorks develops MATLAB and Simulink for numerical computing, modelling and simulation, together with add-on toolboxes. Licences are priced by intended use (standard, startup, academic, student, home) and sold as annual or perpetual licences.

  1. MATLAB pricing is split by intended use into Standard, Startups, Academic, Student and Home licences.[1]

  2. Standard licences are for use at commercial, government or other organisations and can be bought with an annual or a perpetual licence term.[2]

  3. An annual licence gives the right to use the software for 12 months, and MathWorks Software Maintenance Service is included in the annual fee.[3]

  4. The Home licence is for personal use only and is not for government, academic, commercial, for-profit, revenue-generating or other organisational use.[4]

  5. Academic licences are for teaching and academic research at degree-granting institutions, and Startups licences are for approved early-stage companies.[5]
