LimitState

LimitState Ltd is a Sheffield, UK company that develops structural and geotechnical analysis software, including LimitState:GEO, LimitState:RING, LimitState:SLAB, Peregrine and LimitState:FIX.   1. Renewable licences involve a one-time purchase and a subsequent annual 'Support and Maintenance' subscription that provides access to the software, support and updates; six months are included with the licence, followed by an annual charge of 20% of the list price.[1]

  2. LimitState:GEO licence types are Basic (standalone, locked to a single PC), Flexible (USB dongle, any PC), Network (any PC in any office within a country) and Network+ (any PC in any office in a continent), each with a 30-day free trial.[2]

  3. Leased licences are time-limited purchases (1, 3, 6 or 12 months) that include support and maintenance for the contract duration and cannot be transferred to a renewable licence.[3]

  4. Free, unsupported licences are offered to universities and academic institutions using the software exclusively for teaching or research; each use on a recognised university network issues a new 30-day licence.[4]

  5. Network licences are administered with the Reprise License Manager (RLM); the licence server is configured by default not to run on virtual machines, and virtual-environment use requires contacting LimitState.[5]

  6. Flexible licences use a USB dongle, which requires the Sentinel LDK runtime drivers and a valid licence.[6]
