Kitware
Kitware develops open-source scientific computing, visualisation and build tools, including CMake, ParaView and the Visualization Toolkit (VTK). Its main projects are released under the permissive BSD 3-Clause licence, and Kitware sells professional support and training around them.
Licensing at a Glance
- Open source
CMake is distributed under the OSI-approved BSD 3-clause License; the KWSys library in the CMake source tree uses the same licence.[1]
ParaView is released under the permissive BSD 3-Clause licence, which lets commercial organisations use it royalty free; bundled third-party licences are permissive and compatible with it.[2]
Since version 5.12.0, ParaView binary distributions include SPDX files documenting the licences of their components.[3]
VTK is open-source software under a BSD licence that is free to use for any purpose, with minimal restrictions for open and closed source applications; Kitware offers professional support and training.[4]
