Keysight Technologies

Keysight Technologies makes electronic test and measurement equipment and software, including PathWave design and simulation tools and BenchVue instrument software. Its software is licensed node-locked, transportable, USB-portable or floating, on perpetual or time-limited subscription terms.

  1. A node-locked licence is locked to one host instrument or PC; a transportable licence can be unlocked from one host and locked to another.[1]

  2. A USB portable licence is locked to a separately sold USB key and moves between hosts with that key; a floating licence is held on a license server and shared by multiple users on multiple instruments or PCs.[2]

  3. Perpetual licences allow indefinite use and include software updates and support for 12 to 60 months.[3]

  4. Subscription licences allow use for a limited time of between 3 and 36 months and include updates and support for the term of the licence.[4]

  5. For BenchVue, free trial licences are node-locked, subscription-based licences, and a perpetual licence includes updates and support for the first year, renewable annually for a fee.[5]
