Licensing at a Glance

  • Freeware
  • Perpetual licence
  • Subscription
  • Named user
  • Per device
  • Site or enterprise-wide

  1. Customers need at least as many licences as computers or clients on which the software is available; a licence may be reassigned to a new user or computer only every 30 days, and one licensed copy may be used by one user on up to three computers, not simultaneously.[1]

  2. If the software is available over a network, licences must cover every physical PC, server and terminal client on which it can run, regardless of simultaneous use.[2]

  3. A site licence covers all users and computers in one location (city) and is limited to the licensee's legal entity; consultant licences are named-user licences for use on third parties' systems.[3]

  4. Perpetual licences with maintenance may be used indefinitely; since the beginning of 2025 annual subscription licences are also offered and renew automatically unless terminated.[4]

  5. Freeware and trial versions may be used free of charge for commercial and non-commercial purposes, but TreeSize Free may not be installed or run on server operating systems such as Windows Server.[5]

  6. The TreeSize product page positions TreeSize Free for home users, for private use in a non-commercial environment.[6]
