Infoblox
Infoblox makes DNS, DHCP and IP address management (DDI) and DNS-based security products, including NIOS, Universal DDI and Threat Defense. It licenses them through a token-based model in which customers buy a pool of tokens that is consumed by the services, objects and assets they deploy and manage.
Licensing at a Glance
- Subscription
- Capacity (data, assets, nodes)
Infoblox describes a token as a measure of flexible capacity that entitles network and security capabilities, used from a pool instead of buying separate SKUs.[1]
Universal DDI uses three token types: required Management Tokens, optional Server Tokens for NIOS-X servers or NIOS-X as a Service instances, and optional Reporting Tokens.[2]
Management Tokens are consumed according to the number and type of DDI objects, active IPs and assets managed; Server Tokens by the number, size and type of server; Reporting Tokens by the monthly volume of log entries or events.[3]
Essential functionality is not disabled if usage temporarily exceeds the entitlement; extended overages are addressed through a True Forward process.[4]
Assets are counted once after de-duplication across data sources, and asset types without IP addresses do not consume Management Tokens.[5]
