Info-ZIP

Info-ZIP is a volunteer workgroup that publishes the free, portable Zip and UnZip compression utilities. They are distributed under the BSD-style Info-ZIP licence.

  1. Since Zip 2.3 (December 1999) Info-ZIP uses a licence based on the BSD licence, covering Zip 2.3+, UnZip 5.41+, WiZ 5.0+ and MacZip 1.05+.[1]

  2. The licence permits anyone to use the software for any purpose, including commercial applications, and to alter and redistribute it freely, subject to its conditions.[2]

  3. Source and binary redistributions must retain the copyright notice, definition, disclaimer and conditions; a standard UnZipSFX binary in a self-extracting archive is exempt if its banner is intact.[3]

  4. Altered versions must be plainly marked and may not be labelled as Info-ZIP releases or use the Info-ZIP, Pocket UnZip, WiZ or MacZip names without permission.[4]

  5. The latest releases listed are Zip 3.00 (July 2008) and UnZip 6.0 (April 2009).[5]
