IGEL Technology

IGEL Technology develops IGEL OS, a read-only endpoint operating system for accessing virtual desktops and cloud workspaces, and the Universal Management Suite (UMS) for managing it. It is sold as IGEL OS Edition subscriptions that bundle per-device licences with UMS licences and support.

  1. All IGEL OS Editions include licences for IGEL UMS and for IGEL OS devices; each IGEL OS device must be licensed with a device licence to function properly.[1]

  2. From 1 January 2026 Workspace Edition (WE) device licences are replaced by the IGEL Subscription License (ISL) for newly purchased licences.[2]

  3. UMS features follow a feature-based licence model with Essential, Standard and Enterprise UMS licences; all UMS instances in one IGEL License Portal account receive the same licence level.[3]

  4. Licence validity is tied to the subscription: when the subscription expires, the included licences expire and IGEL OS 12 functions, UMS management and updates become limited or disabled.[4]

  5. IGEL OS Editions include Essential, Standard and Enterprise Editions, with Enterprise including all Standard features plus Priority Plus Technical Support.[5]
