GnuWin32
GnuWin32 is a SourceForge project that provides Microsoft Windows ports of GNU and other open-source command-line tools and libraries. Each package keeps the licence of its original source, most often the GNU GPL.
Licensing at a Glance
- Open source
GnuWin provides ports of tools with a GNU or similar open-source licence to Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, 2008 and 7.[1]
No royalties or other fees are payable for using GnuWin software, and GnuWin imposes no licences other than those of the original sources.[2]
GnuWin programs may be redistributed, for example bundled with other software; the project asks redistributors to document the origin of the programs and libraries.[3]
Users must read the licence included in each package; for packages under the GNU GPL, source code must be provided for any program made with the help of that package.[4]
From 1 January 2010 the project stopped updating patches that make programs run on Windows 9x and NT.[5]
