FreeCAD

FreeCAD is an open-source parametric 3D modeller developed by a community project supported by the FreeCAD project association (FPA). Its source code is licensed under the LGPL version 2 or later, and it can be used free of charge for private, commercial or institutional purposes.

  1. All FreeCAD source code in the official Git repository is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License version 2 or later (SPDX LGPL-2.0-or-later), and the documentation and website are under CC-BY-3.0.[1]

  2. Anybody can download, use and redistribute FreeCAD free of charge, and it can be used for any purpose, including private, commercial or institutional use.[2]

  3. Any version of FreeCAD can be deployed and installed anywhere, any number of times.[3]

  4. Modules developed as extensions that do not include any FreeCAD code can use any licence.[4]

  5. FreeCAD states that it has no licensing fees; the project accepts donations and sponsorship through the FreeCAD project association.[5]
