Fedora Project
The Fedora Project is a community project, sponsored by Red Hat, that produces the Fedora Linux distribution. Fedora Linux is a compilation of packages under their own free and open source licences, with an MIT compilation licence over the whole.
Licensing at a Glance
- Open source
Fedora Linux is a compilation of software packages, each under its own licensing terms; since Fedora 22 the compilation licence has been the MIT licence, which does not supersede the licences of the contained code.[1]
All software and other content made available by Fedora must be under licences determined to be allowed in Fedora, with only limited, conditional exceptions; separate criteria apply to code, documentation, content, fonts and firmware.[2]
The Fedora Project Contributor Agreement sets a default licence for contributions that specify none: MIT for software and CC BY-SA for content.[3]
The Fedora trademark guidelines cover Fedora, the Fedora logo, Fedora Remix and Fedora Ready marks, and Red Hat retains and reserves the rights to them.[4]
