Embarcadero Technologies

Embarcadero Technologies, an Idera company, makes the RAD Studio, Delphi and C++Builder development environments (formerly sold under the CodeGear name) and the InterBase database. Editions are sold as perpetual licences with an update subscription or as term subscriptions, licensed per named or concurrent user, with free Community Editions for low-revenue users.

  1. RAD Studio is sold in Professional, Enterprise and Architect editions as a perpetual licence, with the first year of Update Subscription (maintenance updates and upgrades) included.[1]

  2. With a Named User or Network Named User licence the product may be installed on one or more computers but used only by the one designated Named User; a Concurrent Users licence allows network installation for up to the purchased number of simultaneous users.[2]

  3. Subscription (term) Named User licences allow installation on up to three computers for one designated person during the licence term.[3]

  4. Delphi and C++Builder Community Editions are free, limited commercial use editions; RAD Studio is not offered as a Community Edition, and Embarcadero collects Community Edition usage information for auditing purposes.[4]

  5. Delphi Community Edition may be used by individuals and organizations until revenue reaches US$5,000 per year or the team exceeds five developers, after which a commercial edition such as Professional is required.[5]

  6. If an audit finds unlicensed use, the licensee must pay licence fees at then-current list prices and reimburse the reasonable costs of the audit.[6]
