Eclipse Adoptium

Eclipse Adoptium, a working group of the Eclipse Foundation, builds and publishes Eclipse Temurin, OpenJDK-based Java runtimes. Temurin binaries are free to use under GPL version 2 with the Classpath Exception.

Licensing at a Glance

  1. Eclipse Temurin binaries are provided at no cost to use, forever, under the GNU General Public License version 2 with the Classpath Exception.[1]

  2. Temurin runtimes are OpenJDK-based, Java SE TCK certified and AQAvit verified.[2]

  3. Release builds receive community support: users raise issues and fixes are delivered in the next Adoptium release.[3]

  4. Eclipse does not provide commercial, SLA-backed support for Temurin; a list of companies offering contracted support is maintained on the Adoptium site.[4]
