DivX

DivX, LLC makes DivX Software for video playback and conversion and licenses DivX video technology to device manufacturers. The desktop software is free with paid DivX Pro upgrades, and its EULA grants a personal, single-device licence that excludes commercial use.

Licensing at a Glance

  • Free tier
  • Perpetual licence
  • Per device
  • OEM / bundled
  1. The EULA grants a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use a single copy of the software on a single computer or device by a single concurrent user.[1]

  2. The EULA permits personal use only; commercial use of the software or of work produced with it requires a separate commercial licence from DivX.[2]

  3. Some components are subject to trial periods and product registration; entering a valid serial number removes a component's trial or non-functional limitations.[3]

  4. Free DivX Software includes 15-day trials of Pro features such as Video Pack and Cloud Connect; DivX Pro unlocks them, removes ads and carries a 30-day refund policy.[4]

  5. DivX licenses its video technology (SDKs and CTKs) to chipset and consumer electronics manufacturers and certifies their playback devices.[5]
