curl

curl is the open-source command-line tool and libcurl library for transferring data with URLs, led by Daniel Stenberg (Haxx). It is licensed under the permissive curl licence, and commercial support is offered through wolfSSL.

  1. curl and libcurl are open source and may be freely modified, redistributed and used in commercial projects.[1]

  2. curl and libcurl use the curl licence, which is inspired by MIT/X but not identical; its SPDX identifier is curl.[2]

  3. The licence requires the copyright and permission notice to appear in all copies and bars using a copyright holder's name to promote the software without prior written authorisation.[3]

  4. Commercial curl support, including long-term support releases called Rock-solid curl, is offered via wolfSSL, where curl's founder and lead developer works.[4]
