Cockpit Project
The Cockpit Project develops Cockpit, a web-based graphical interface for administering Linux servers. Cockpit is free and open-source software, primarily under the LGPL 2.1 or later.
Licensing at a Glance
- Open source
The Cockpit source repository lists LGPL-2.1-or-later, GPL-3.0-or-later, BSD-3-Clause, CC-BY-SA-3.0 and MIT as the licences that apply to its code and assets.[1]
Cockpit is installed by default in Fedora Server and is available in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 and later through the distribution's package repositories.[2]
By default Cockpit uses the system's normal user logins and privileges; single sign-on and other network-wide authentication methods are also supported.[3]
Cockpit does not make security decisions of its own: an authenticated user has the same permissions as when logging in through the console or SSH.[4]
