Bartels Media develops the PhraseExpress text expander, the Macro Recorder automation tool and the ShareMouse mouse and keyboard sharing tool. PhraseExpress is free for personal use and sold to professional users as perpetual per-user licences with 12 months of included updates.

  1. PhraseExpress is given away free of charge to personal users; licence notifications and occasional licence text insertions start after 30 days when it is used in a professional context (such as managed devices, work accounts, virtual machines or server operating systems) or with commercial-edition features.[1]

  2. PhraseExpress licences are perpetual one-time purchases with no subscription, valid for any version released during the 12-month maintenance period.[2]

  3. The first four digits of a PhraseExpress licence key show the maintenance expiration date (for example 0424 for April 2024).[3]

  4. PhraseExpress is sold in Standard, Professional and Enterprise editions; in a stand-alone installation one licence covers one person on up to three computers with the same user name, while client/server use with SQL Server needs a licence per user connection.[4]

  5. In portable mode the PhraseExpress licence key is bound to the USB stick, which can be used on any number of computers; use with Macro Recorder requires a separate Macro Recorder Enterprise Edition licence.[5]
