Aspen Technology, Inc. (AspenTech) makes industrial software for process engineering and simulation, asset performance management and digital grid management, including the aspenONE Engineering suite. Under its token-based licensing model, customers license a shared pool of tokens that users check out to run individual products.

  1. Tokens are licensed to create a company token pool; when a user opens the software, tokens are checked out from the pool and can be used for any product, each product requiring its own number of tokens, and they return to the pool when the user finishes.[1]

  2. Under the New Commercial Model, users can access the integrated functionality of the entire aspenONE Engineering suite without individual product licences.[2]

  3. Under the New Commercial Model, tokens can be licensed so that a company shares them across the globe and multiple regions.[3]

  4. The Aspen Licensing Dashboard shows licence denials and expirations in one place and can send notifications when token limits are reached or server connectivity problems arise.[4]
