- Model deprecation policy. Anthropic classes models as Active, Legacy, Deprecated or Retired, assigns a retirement date once a model is deprecated, and gives at least 60 days' notice before retiring a publicly released model. [1]
- Tentative retirement dates. Active models are listed with a tentative retirement date of 'not sooner than' a stated day, and partner platforms such as Amazon Bedrock and Google Cloud set their own retirement schedules. [1]
Claude API 31 versions
Versions are Claude models on the Claude API. Active models have only a tentative retirement date of 'not sooner than' a stated day (not shown as an end date); Anthropic gives at least 60 days' notice before retiring a publicly released model. Where Anthropic states a deprecation date it is shown as end of standard support, and the retirement date as end of life. Release dates are the launch dates in the Claude Platform release notes; none is published for the Claude 1, 2 and 3 models.
