Altova

Altova develops XML, JSON, data-mapping and database developer tools such as XMLSpy and MapForce, plus server products for automating them. Desktop tools are licensed per installed, named or concurrent user under the Altova EULA, and server products are licensed per core.

Licensing at a Glance

  • Perpetual licence
  • Named user
  • Concurrent user
  • Per device
  • Per core
  1. The Altova EULA licenses desktop software per installed computer, named user or concurrent user; the licence type and permitted number of computers or users are fixed at purchase.[1]

  2. Installed user licences are intended to be static: a licence may not be moved back and forth between machines, although permanent redeployment is allowed in limited cases such as an employee leaving or a machine being decommissioned.[2]

  3. A Named User licence allows installation on up to five computers of which the licensee is the primary user, with only one instance in use at a time, and must be used with Altova LicenseServer.[3]

  4. A Concurrent User licence allows installation on up to ten times the permitted number of users within the customer's commercial environment, provided only the permitted number use the software at the same time.[4]

  5. A 30-day evaluation licence is issued at registration; a permanent licence is issued on purchase from Altova GmbH or an authorised reseller.[5]

  6. Altova server software is licensed by the number of physical cores on a physical server or virtual cores in a virtual machine, a separate licence is needed for each server, and a licence may not be moved between servers more than three times per year.[6]
