Altium

Altium makes electronics and PCB design software, including Altium Designer, Altium Designer Develop and Altium Designer Agile. Licences are seat-based and can be served on demand from Altium's cloud, from an on-premises Private License Service, or as standalone licence files.

  1. Altium Designer supports three licence types: On-Demand (served by Altium's cloud licensing service), Private Server (served by an on-premises Private License Service) and Standalone (a licence file managed by the user).[1]

  2. An On-Demand seat is held only while the user is signed in to an Altium Account and is released on sign-out, giving floating use within the licence's geographic scope; a seat can also be roamed for offline use for a set time.[2]

  3. Subscription renewals are no longer available for perpetual licences; after the subscription expires the licence can still be used but without the latest updates and cloud capabilities.[3]

  4. For Altium Designer Agile, on-demand floating use is governed by the Master Services Agreement (MSA) rather than the EULA.[4]

  5. The Altium Infrastructure Server, which can host a Private License Service for offline sites, is described as a free on-premises server.[5]
