ActiveState makes a curated catalog of secured open-source language runtimes and components, and the ActivePerl, ActivePython and ActiveTcl distributions. The Curated Catalog is priced per language per year by company size, and a free Community Edition is available under a restricted licence.

  1. Curated Catalog pricing is per language per year by company size: $25,000 for companies under 100 employees, $50,000 for 100–999 employees and $150,000 for 1,000+ employees, with Enterprise+ pricing for 1,000+ developers by quotation.[1]

  2. Customers are placed into one of four tiers by employee count (or developer count for the largest tier), and every language costs the same flat rate within a tier.[2]

  3. The Community Edition licence is a free-of-charge, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the software on any computing device, subject to the agreement's restrictions.[3]

  4. Community Edition use is measured in Concurrent Runtime Subscriptions: an individual may have 1, and an organisation is capped at 5 users.[4]

  5. OEM distribution is not permitted under the Community Edition without ActiveState's prior approval.[5]
