Lifecycle Policy
- Fixed Lifecycle Policy. Products with a defined support timeline at launch: a minimum of five years of Mainstream Support, then a period of Extended Support for some products, with service pack levels required for eligibility. [1]
- Modern Lifecycle Policy. Products and services that are serviced continuously and remain in support while customers stay current, are licensed and Microsoft still offers support, with at least 12 months' notice before support ends when no successor is offered. [2]
