- Definition
- Customer must acquire and assign the appropriate subscription licenses required for its use of each Online Service. Usage exceeding the Online Service’s documented entitlement(s) and/or usage limits require additional purchase of licenses to cover overage. Each user that accesses the Online Service must be assigned a User SL or access the Online Service only through a device that has been assigned a Device SL, unless specified otherwise in the Online Service-specific Terms. Subscription License Suites describes SL Suites that also fulfill requirements for User SLs. Customer has no right to use an Online Service after the SL for that Online Service ends. SL means subscription License that allows access to software or a hosted service for a defined period of time.
- Counting rules
- One User SL per user who accesses or benefits from the Online Service, unless accessed only through a Device SL or Online Service-specific Terms say otherwise. Multiplexing does not reduce the number of Licenses of any type. Reassignment not within 90 days except user absence or device out of service. Licensed User means the single person to whom a License is assigned. F1, F3, E3, E5, E7, A3, A5, G3, G5, and Business Basic/Standard/Premium are suites licensed by User SL, not separate meters.

- Reassignment: 90 days (Universal License Terms for Online Services). Microsoft 365 Business Basic/Standard/Premium: Customer may not provision more than 300 user subscription licenses (PT Microsoft 365 MCA). Change log 15 Jun 2026: Apps for business and Teams Essentials added to the 300-SL terms. Apps User SL: up to five concurrent OSEs; internet every 30 days; 5 smartphones and 5 tablets. Intune User SL: up to fifteen devices.
